"The Meadow" - Composed by Chris Ryan

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Just finished a full orchestral piece intended to depict a romance culminating in a beautiful meadow---let me know what you think!

Thanks,

Chris :)

Wow that's nice good job!

This was a very calming piece that I could easily see in a romantic film. Very hollywood-esque, nice length, and good use of instrumentation.

Good work. ;)

Very good, lovely sounding piece, definitely can hear this as the end credits. I would say this its one of the more focused musically from beginning to end that ive heard on these boards. You certainly have an ear for musical development in pieces.

I listened to With Glory in their eyes, it does sound quite similar in terms of harmonies, but its a very well done piece, only bit i wasnt keen on was the nee naw police siren sounds at about 3:25mins from the clarinets or flutes not sure which. This could actually be the starting credits to The Meadows end credits.

Beautiful piece of music. I like it very much. I like the culmination going to the end of it. Nice instruments and sound overall! Nice work!

Thanks everyone!!

Scriabin, glad you listened to "With Glory in Their Eyes." I'm sure you could find many structural similarities between the two pieces. As for the nee-naw sounds (two flutes), they were intended to be light and beautiful so that they almost weave in and out of each other; however, I will admit that they did come out a bit calculated in the recording.

It's gorgeous...

And you've definitely got the patience to write musical development using Finale. I wish I did... lol

Wow... simply stunning. Beautiful, sweeping, emotionally evocative... everything I hope to find in a romantic piece. I've never been that impressed with GPO sounds either, till now :P

Thanks guys --- yes, GPO has the potential to be amazing. It's all about blending, and creating layers of sound. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Hey its very good. For all the guys that think I only post harsh comments..hear this..this is the definitely the way how its sould be orchestrate..very well done! Keep on composing!!

- And you did it with GPO...interesting...its hard to achieve a realistic sound with it, but you did it...since I use EWQLSO GOLD, GPO sounds very dumb, but when I heard this I didnt recognize GPO sounds (despite I wrote many many works with it) lol, so congrats!!

It's a REALLY good job. On a technological and compositional level. WELL DONE! I really enjoyed it!

Thanks guys! Norby, much appreciated. Honestly, I'm not all that familiar with EWQLSO, but I'll definitely check it out.
