Hey Everyone!

I know I'm not around that much these days, but I hope to increase my being-here-ness again now as after a bit of a lesson regarding mixing I am motivated again.

In this thread I'll be posting various pieces from the soundtrack of the game I'm designing. It's an RPG, and although in reality it'l probably never materialise, it is always nice to write some music for it!

Pretty much everything I post on here will be on: http://www.soundclick.com/lukestephenson

Halo's Theme (Piano Version).

Halo (just a working name) is a young priestess and the girlfriend of the protagonist. There's not really much more I can say about her without going on for ages, so I'll leave it at that. Oh yeah, sorry for the abrupt ending, I forgot to do a version with a fade for show.

Galena's Theme

Galena is a dancer travelling to find a cure for her ill sister. She also enjoys to play the flute, the idea is the flute in the piece is the melody she is playing herself. Remembered to add a fade this time as well.

Fighting in the Fields

Battle Theme! (PS. Sorry for the dodgy second loop before the fade out, I have noticed it and will fix at a later date)

Fighting in the Fields (Rock Version)

Rock arrangement of the battle theme. Hoping to re-record using live instruments at some point. Credit to my friend Joe Field for most of the arrangement!

Feedback/criticism welcome as always, hope you enjoy.

Hey! I couldn't get the link working. Is it the right one or am I just being silly? haha!

Hmm, well it works for me! I'll add a link to my full sound click page at the top, hopefully you can get to it from there at least.

Fox

Welcome back.

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to the sounds of the piano. I prefer a bit dryer sound myself, but that doesn't mean what you have done is wrong.

I don't think I would name a character Halo just because of the connotations of the name.

But the theme itself is simple and effective.

Hope you stick around and join in the fun.

Ron

I found it :) Sorry about that.

I like it a lot. Very pretty. Is this sequenced or notation software though? It does sound a little too mechanical. But composition-wise I really like it! :)

Nice piece Fox. Simple and effective. I can see it working nicely in RPG game. :)

Heya thanks for the listen guys, I appreciate it!

@ Rolifer - You may be right as well, I'm still getting my head around EQ and reverb, and for a game especially I may have gone a little bit over the top. I'll bear it in mind next time!

As for the character name, I agree with you. She's been called Halo since we started the project about 5 years ago cause, well we were too young and couldn't think of decent names lol. It'll be changed to something better soon.

@ Kevin - It's both. I've been using Sibelius 5 for a while so I know my way around it, basically. I then export as a MIDI and edit it in Cubase 4. Trust me when I say it's much better now then it was after notating it! But the main thing I fiddled around with was the EQ and velocities in Cubase, I didn't think to touch the tempo track at all so that's probably why it sounds a bit mechanical. Cheers for pointing it out.

Galena's Theme added to OP, feedback and critique appreciated.

EDIT: Just edited Galena's Theme slightly, the damn flute was a tiny bit off key and it was really bugging me!

Battle theme and rock arrangement of battle theme added to OP!

Any feedback/criticism on those or any of the others very much appreciated!

I really admired the Prayer of a Decoy piece a lot. Very nice! I'm curious on software that was used for your compositions.

I liked Fighting in the Fields the most.

But then again, I'm always a fan of battle sounding type music.

-two thumbs up-
