"The End" Progressive Rock Song

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone,

This a new prog rock song that my band wrote (and I sang.) I'd love to hear what you think!

Enjoy!

The beginning sounded very promising - nice rhythmical structures. The verses and choruses kind of fell a bit short for me. All the elements are there... but perhaps there needs to be a bit more of them. The drums are brilliant, but perhaps it needs a bit of a stronger instrumental theme. I dunno... if I were to just hear it, then apart from some more interesting rhythms, I wouldn't call this progressive rock I think.

Needs more rhythmical, melodic perhaps harmonic variety.

Solo was nice though, albeit very short. I liked it generally - but as just a rock song.

I actually thought the verses were fine the way they were but the chorus could use some work. Other than that it's a pretty decent song, in my opinion.

Out of curiosity, what is your range, vocally. I would have loved to hear the melody go a little higher but I don't know what you're capable of from that one song. I find that the melodies that I end up singing for the rest of the day or the ones that use both the lower range and a little of the high as well.

YACHAR: Thanks for listening! Yeah, perhaps it is more of a straight rock song. I have a hard time defining the genre exactly... We're still a pretty new band, so our sound can only mature! : )

J.T. Hanrahan: Thanks the compliment! The chorus could, perhaps use some more variation. I can sing in some other ranges as well... if your interested in hearing our whole ep, you can here:

Hey, I listened to some of your music. I'm glad you used more of your range in some of the songs than in "the end". You guys definitely have some talent there.

Just some things to think about in the future:

1. write in some more different keys. Sorry to say this but nothing annoys me more than having a song pick up in the same key as the one before unless it transitions directly from the previous song, but that's just me.

2. You might want to find someone who can mix your recordings a bit better. They're not bad but I wouldn't say quite album quality if you were going in that direction. If you don't know anyone personally who might do it for a discount, you can always ask a professional. It will cost more but will be well worth it.

This name is stolen from another rock band. Tut tut tut...
