How do I get rid of the whole rests that automatically pre-fill in empty measures? I'm using Finale 2008. ARGH!!

well, if you just want a blank measure, you can right-click the rest using the measure tool and select hide/show. It will still "be there", but you can't see it.

But if you are asking how to change the the autofill thing, I don't know.

Yah, but to get to the hide/show option you probably have to replace the automatic whole rest that fills the measure with a whole rest of your own that you put in manually. Then, when the rest is highlighted, press "h".

Staff tool / double click on one staff / uncheck "display rests in empty measures"
