May 1, 200620 yr Hi all, This is a very simple piece I created a while ago. It begins in the key of C major, and transitions to A flat major at measure 25. Inspiration: The inspiration was a scene of floating clouds. It didn't take long to create approx 1 hour. Audience: This piece is meant to be played by a beginning piano student, most likely a teenager, or adult. There' no moving octaves, but it may be challenging for a young beginner to play the right hand part since the arpeggios span an octave. I'm looking for ways to improve my composition skills. Any suggestions on improvement will be helpful. I'm not too familiar with music theory, or musical terms, so any feedback is appreciated. May 1, 200620 yr It was pleasent even though simple. Simplicity can be a virtue in music one once told me. I found it relaxing and nice. Never worry about it being simple. I write lots of simplistic piano works and many people of today like them better than the more complex baroque works I do. My only complaint would be... Its to short. Make it longer. Jeremy
May 2, 200620 yr To me this sounds like more of an intermediate piece. Sure, the rhythms are easy, but the notes, the way the left hand and right hand interact, and other thing I can't place seem to put this piece into a more advanced category. And I think I heard octaves in the right hand, were those 8th notes? Still, a beautifully simplistic piece. I'd change the end chord to one that isn't so harsh. Give it some bass and make it open.
May 11, 200620 yr I would have liked to hear something different in the left hand, or maybe a contrasting section with some mode mixture. Otherwise, it is indeed simple and relaxing.
