My Beethoven1986 thread.

Featured Replies

Having all my stuff on one thread will be much easier, so all of my compositions will be on this thread. The newest peice (atonal.mid) is not truly atonal, but is written using tonal techniques and cadences, but avoiding any coherence to a particular key. It is written using three basic chords, but as it is played, other chords naturally are formed. I like it a lot, however the piano playing on it is abysmal, since I am not the best player in the world, and also because it is a live recording that has been MIDI-ized. Please overlook its techical shortcomings and tell me what you think of it and all the other peices posted in theis thread. Thank all of you very much.

P.S. The peice called duet 1.mid is still in progress. The tune you hear is a sketch for the beginning of a larger peice.

P.P.S. I seem to be having trouble with A Major.mid and Duet1.mid playing in piano instead of the instruments I have selected. I don't know if it is just my computer, so please tell me about these two peices. A Major should be played by strings and Duet 1 should be viola and cello. Thanks

ATONAL doesn't really have all that unusual chord changes, at least not to my ears. It's an interesting snippet, though it just seems to move around a few basic expressions, with nothing really becoming clear.

AMAJOR has a very strong sense of key, though some of the bass chords are a bit too blocky. You can actually make the chord in the bas sound better by only playing an octave, or at most an octave and a fifth. The part at 1:35 seems a bit disjointed, as if the notes are not falling exactly together in time.

DUET1 doesn't seem to require more than one person to play. It sounds like two lines of melody played in tandem.

DUET2 has a nice bass line, I started to bounce a bit back and forth when I heard it. I like this piece so far the best of all those here. There's some real momentum in this piece, which is a good thing. The tunes are also nice, which doesn't hurt!

DANCE has a nice opening! Definitely a good beat here. The piano seems a bit chord heavy though. At least in places. I like the alternating bit with it though towards the end in the upper registers. That's much nicer!

Here are two piano songs i wrote this week. The one in E Major I will probably add to the bass line at a later point in time. As for the other songs please tell me if the correct instruments are playing on your computer, because on mine, some of the songs don't play properly. Two piano MP3's

Here are some Piano MP3's of mine. click on the "Two piano MP3's" Link!!!!

Atonal - Very nice melody and harmony tempo, expressions and passovers are good too. But why is it atonal? sounds very tonal to me. Tonality isn't very firm, but i stil get a tonal feel.

Duet1 - Short and sweet! Melody and counterpoints are nice, but you might want to add more harmony to it.

Duet2 - Very nice! Not really my style, but the duet seems to be functioning smooth and and gives the melody a very nice feel. Reminds me of Handel.

Dance - A very nice flow in the melody and harmony, but just a little too short. You could make it very beuatiful and much more interesting if you'd continue.

P.S. i don't see any mp3s here

I am leaving this site, as it has become watered down, and no longer provides useful feedback to any one outside a certain "clique." I have realized that no one has commented on any of my threads for over a month, so I have come to the conclusion that I am of no value to this site. Good bye and best of luck.
