Lullaby / piano solo

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new here.. Thought I'd upload some compositions as I've never really had much feedback before now.

This is an idea I wrote for piano - the theme is easy to spot, but I'm wondering if I need to refine the form. Basically I just got down the ideas without thinking much about how best to use them..

I'm also aware that the harmony doesn't change much.. I just felt that for this particular idea, that would be best.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hey Tom,

I just joined as well. Sounds pretty good in my opinion. You could try some sort of modulation away from the original key to spice it up a bit, even if just for a couple measures somewhere in the middle. Overall though I think it's done well and sets a nice mood.

Sounds great! I have to say I got a bad feeling from the first few bars. A repeatitious start like that usually signals a bad piece but I was proved wrong. I didn't find the lack of modulation to be a problem. I think there was enough interest provided by the increasing complexity of the top part, the rich chords and the triplets later on.

I didn't like the 'half' appearances of the bass part at 1:44.

I enjoyed the simplicity of the piece. The repeating, flowing eighth notes from the left hand are effective in making the piece a bit hypnotic, which fits the title. nice

This was very, very good! Never be reluctant to share even a simple piece on the site: good composition is what always matters; complexity is not always necessary (although it is definitely a great ability to be able to make complex music). I enjoyed this piece very much: it is indeed very hypnotic and relaxing, and yet somewhat dark and moody at the same time.

It was really good. The only thing I sort didn't enjoy was the part was around measure 47, I think. But it wasn't bad. Overall the piece was very very good. 4.9 out of 5 is my rating. Keep it up.
