JANUARY 2010 COMPETITION

Ok, I'll do this: I'll see if I can completely improvise something in 48 hours time. I very much doubt it (as I've never been much of an improviser), but it can't hurt.

Ugh...here's my entry. I kind of hate it, (you can tell it's just a sloppy improv) and frankly don't think it'll win, but at least I tried. I did no revision, and posted everything on Sibelius without changing anything, and went as far as I could go without making the piece even worse by becoming aimless.

Ok, I will enter. Good time to see if I have learned the ins and outs of Sibelius yet.....

I'm going to start now, if that's alright. It'll be in on the twenty-forth.

Here is my entry for 2 clarinets, bass clarinet, and woodblocks...and in the nick of time :-)

Note: Edited to fix audio file only: last phrase was not audible in original

Hey I'm going to have to drop out because I can't make scores and I'm at my cousins house for the day. Sorry.

This competition is now closed. There are three pieces to judge.

Judges: please score each piece by the following:

OVERALL: out of 10 points

EFFORT: out of 10 points

The final score for each piece will be: L(aO + aE) where L is the length of the piece, aO is the average OVERALL score, and aE is the average EFFORT score.

Please submit itemized points to me via PM by Jan. 29.

RESULTS!

Winner: Michael P.

Runner-up: Benxiwf

Haha, good for them! :D

I think I'll just stick to composing and kind of skip the whole improv thing <_<

I liked this contest. Although I didn't really take it as a whole one take improv and just kind of tinkered until I came up with a basic idea that I am now expanding upon to make a full piece out of.

wooohoo! boost to my musical ego. :P
