EWQL and Sibelius help

Featured Replies

For the life of me I can't get the EWQL sound sets to work, even after following all instructions in depth. So I figured why not have PLAY be a VST for Sibelius 6 and use it to play My EWQLSO Gold sound set? Well, that didn't work either. My bet is because I can't use a 64 bit VST through Sibelius since it only runs 32 bit, so how can I download the 32 bit VST and be able to use PLAY through Sibelius, or can I not? And if so, will someone answer the question I've had forever, how may I rewire Cubase and SIbelius 6 together, because, again, through all instructions, I cannot get it to work. :////

I'm no wizz with Sibelius (and I don't really use it for playback) but I can say that PLAY being 64-bit capable probably isn't the problem. Have you heard of someone else rewiring sibelius? At first thought, I don't think it would be possible. Or useful?

Are you able to get sound from the default Sibelius sounds?

Yeah, I use GPO with Sibelius, but they're adequate at best. When I tried using the 64 bit PLAY VST, I had it Rescan the VST file in the Playback Devices menu, and on subsequent load ups it wouldn't load any of my VSTs. Once I removed PLAY, it went back to normal. And I'm not sure if it's directly compatible with Cubase and Sibelius, but Sibelius 6 has ReWire capability, so I assume it's possible...

Sorry for not replying, the holdays happened.

You say they are "adequate at best" but what more do you want from sibelius than adequate? It's notation software. You're meant to composing in your head and write down the notes. The fact that if even attempts to sound like the real instruments is a bonus, but perhaps and dangerous one, if it hinders the development of the mind's ear - aural imagination.

I don't know what the PLAY problem is. Sorry I can't help.

I'm rooting for ya Josh, because I basically have the same question...

Rewire with Sib or EWQL in Sib?

If these questions are that widespread I might take the time out and have a look.

To get EWQLSO to work in Sibelius you need to install the VST 32 bit plug in from your installer disc. Copy that VST 32 bit file to your Sibelius VST folder. It works well for me. As for Cubase and Sibelius I am afraid I can't help you there. I have always used a notation program to write a piece and then save the midi file and then open it up in the sequencer for mastering.

Hope this helps!

Thomas

Ooops, and by installer disc I mean the Play installer disc. Use the "custom" install option and just choose the VST 32 bit option.
