aria for soprano

Siam navi all'onde

Quite a fun piece you have here... but man, that digi-voice is CREEPY.

As far as the written score:

Take care of your syllables - for instance, "affetti" should be "af-fet-ti," rather than "a-ffe-tti" - each time a work appears, it often appears differently. Each time they should be broken in the same way. Do not repeat syllables in melismas, even when there are rests between them. Simply continue your word extension through. I realize you did it to get playback, but in the end, this score is meant to be sung by a human, not a computer. Some terraced dynamics would do wonders for this piece!

As far as the text:

Is a very nice text. I always find that the da capo aria is a wonderful writing challenge, and while I would have set this text much slower, you have done an admirable job of setting the form.

Check the phrase "Tutta la vita e un mar," in bar 37 for the text stresses. Should be "TUTta la VIta e un MAR" and the way it's set now makes it "TUTta LA vita"

As far as the music:

You do a very good job of embellishing the vocal and oboe phrases.

However, I feel like there is so much V-I-V-I in the celli! One of the glorious hallmarks of baroque counterpoint is the melodic stepwise motion of all the lines. The V-I-V-I thing in the celli gives the piece a sense of stasis - which is exactly the opposite of what the text requires!

Also - check your counterpoint - there are some voice-leading problems there, mostly to do with poor leading to and from dissonances.

Try not to abuse both melismas or agility and the soprano because the human voice tends to run out (needs to breathe) .... Notes extreme care also must (you can not put a note B below the staff for soprano, mezzo that is more for nor a grade of C on acute since the technique of singing requires careful preparation to give the note C. Moreover, I found it curious! and I encourage you to follow.

Greetings! ;)
