February 22, 201016 yr This is a piece I wrote for my course. It's a sinfonietta, or chamber symphony if you will. It's a lot more adventurous harmonically than anything I've written before, but hopefully you will enjoy it. (Will upload score later tonight!) Sinfonietta Live recording now included (Excerpt) There was just one hour to rehearse and record so bear this in mind! Starts at bar 57
February 23, 201016 yr this sounds like a gentile early 20th cent piece. sweet... I can not open sibelius files. Could you please replace it with a PDF? Thanks for sharing this. I really would love to see the score...
February 23, 201016 yr Grrr, my first thing didn't post. Anyway, I enjoyed the piece. It reminds me a bit of Debussy, just denser. I think it could benefit from some space and pauses, though. Viewing Sibelius files with the Scorch viewer is crap, any chance you could post a .pdf instead?
February 28, 201016 yr Author Grrr, my first thing didn't post. Anyway, I enjoyed the piece. It reminds me a bit of Debussy, just denser. I think it could benefit from some space and pauses, though. Hey guys, Thanks for the comments, The piece is being recorded this Thursday, and I'll put up the recording and conductors score asap! The mock-up I've done is a pretty poor realisation to be honest. It's very hard to know what to listen to as the dynamics are completely off. Stay tuned..
March 14, 201016 yr Author Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a good enough recording last week due to only having an hour to rehearse and record. I will be rerecording the piece next month and will have a bit of time to tweak things. For example the brass instruments sounded far too loud and often obscured the main melodic focus. The piece was also a bit too dense, and was a tad confusing. It was hard to discern what was the most important melodic part, so I will have to thin some of the textures. Until then, I bid you adieu
April 18, 201015 yr Author Ok, now you can hear an excerpt of the recording I did on Wednesday. Unfortunately we only had an hour to rehearse and record which is nowhere near long enough so the performance wasn't the best. I've just included an excerpt as this is the only bit that doesn't have too many mistakes! This particular excerpt is pretty good though considering the lack of time! (Starts at bar 57)
