March 16, 201016 yr Hi everyone, I am completely new to this site (activated account 40 minutes ago). I have a question as to where I may be able to find advice on places to go for graduate studies in music composition that have a good music technology program as well. I am going to finish my undergraduate studies in a little over a year and wish to look into universities in order to start the application process. My degree is in Music Composition and Music Technology. I've been recommended a couple of places like University at Buffalo of the Suny system. Another professor recommended The Hague in the Netherlands although I think she meant the city in general so I have to research what universities are there. Absolutely any university in any country that you have heard of is good for music composition and music technology would be great for me to research. Thanks all. And please, if this thread is in the wrong forum let me know and I will open a new one in the appropriate place.
March 16, 201016 yr USC is a very prestigious school, and its graduate programs are very cheap (Although the dormitory costs are not; ask about scholarships). The University of Miami has a good composition school, and I think one of the colleges in Oregon or Washington state has a well-known graduate program (I think Washington State..) These schools have good graduate programs in composition, not music technology. I'd check them up on music technology as well, if you want more information.

I'm actually right next to U.M. I go to F.I.U. which has been great. There is a master's program at F.I.U. but my professors really encourage me to look elsewhere to have different experiences with different professors in composition. Thank you for your reply.
April 1, 201015 yr Princeton University had a decent program, but some of the professors move to my alma mater, Tulane: http://www.tulane.edu/~music/tmt/ Check out Tae Hong Park's stuff, he's the main prof and from Princeton.
May 6, 201015 yr Well are you interested in composition for real instruments or composing in the digital realm? Are you interested in technology as in sound recording or only to aid your composition? I think if you give us a better idea of what you hope to do, better recommendations can be made. A school like Berklee School of Music is great for some realms of technology/composition, but terrible for others where a smaller school like Ithaca NY or Duquesne University (Pittsburgh) offer great technology. I would say Ithaca currently has the better comp teachers of the two though. What are you hoping to do? Of course there are the bigger music schools that would be good- Michigan, Indiana, SUNY, etc.
