The first movement is great. I love the counterpoint you use between the different lines, and the harmony is interesting and varied. My only complaint would be that the first violin doesn't have a particularly interesting part :santa: .

As for the second movement, I find the texture to be a bit too dense for my tastes. Maybe thin down the counterpoint a little? Also, I think some string players might be a bit phased by your pizz-arco passage, but it's entirely OK. Do you play strings?

Onto the Scherzo. I find the transition into and out from the trio to be rough, going from a very dense and complex texture to block chords in the space of a measure and vice-versa. I also think your Scherzo should be more modulatory, given that it's... a Scherzo. Good use of the Cello's extreme-high register, although if you get this performed your cellist might swear a bit.

Great Finale! Brings it nicely to a close. Interesting variations and the return of the first movement's theme combine the four movements into a convincing whole.

In the end, I'd say the only thing that detracted from my listening experience was the heavy usage of dense texture vs. simple block chords (It's often either completely one or the other, there doesn't seem to be a sufficient middle-ground where movement is present but reasonably confined), and the (over)usage of happy, jittery themes, combined with Zelda-esque combinations of major and minor. It does tend to get bland after a while.

The piece as a whole is very good. You seem to know the string instruments very well, and your harmonic, formal and thematic skills are very sharp. You should be proud of this work. hones:

i wud suggest u invest in better midi sound tho cos it is dire for string quartet. strings are so subtle.

a lot of work here i can tell and it is great to create a full piece isnt it? again sound wud make a huge difference and show up the extent of work u put in cos many of the finer details are ruined.
