(Reattaching the file after a long absence ;)Theme for a short film. The film got warm reception and I was lucky enough to compose this theme for it :) In a few words. The main character is an elderly woman who is forced to put her husband in a care home after realizing that she is no longer capable of living a normal life with him. lovely sad melody. I cant open SIB, so a PDF would be appreciated. The final V-I cadence felt a bit to slow. As if I expected already the I while you are still prolonging the V. Since you repeat this 3 times I got used to it, but still... ;)

jrcramer, thanks for the comment. I actually spent some time on the final cadence and I guess that at some point I thought it sounded finesmile.gif I have uploaded the PDF version of the score for an easier access

i can feel the sad melody , of maybe two married people that have to be separated and you deliver the message clearly :). the orchestration is very smooth and nice , easy to the ear , good job ,that would fit nicely in a film.

Awesome piece, Neehoo!

It had a great theme that you could easily identify and listen to. I listened to it twice for sheer enjoyment purposes. When all the parts came in, that was a nice bit of arranging with the countermelodies not interfering with the main theme. Solid writing.

What did you use to compose this? Finale/Sibelius?

Excellent work, Neehoo!

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate it a lot

John,

I used digital piano and Sibelius.

I have still a lot to learn so it was not a full spontaneous composition that jumped into existence all at once:)

I came up with the harmonic structure on piano.

Later, I transcribed piano bits into Sibelius and came up with the initial clarinet theme (actually the initial theme was on flute but I replaced it with clarinet after suggestions from my teacher and it worked great;) ) and strings in Sibelius. Later on, most of the piano bits became harp since this way it did not compete with the main theme too much.

This is a really nice little piece. I liked the subtle pianissimo use of all instruments... and the tempo is just right. I just wish it was longer, it basically stopped when it was the sweetest :)
