Hello everyone. I am a sophomore in college and this is my first work writing with lyrics. I was in an intro to composition class and we had to write a piece to fit a poem. I have known this Franciscan Benediction since high school and I love the words, so I thought it would be a perfect fit. Hope you enjoy!

Great stuff, I really like it. It's a shame about the recording though. There seems to be some kind of phasing going on and the intro sounds clipped. Were you using a noise gate or anything? Even so, its great to hear live recordings instead of synth city. Love the voice, love the keys, love the spirit and may god bless you too!

Great job Jess! I wasnt in class that day to hear this so Im glad I get to hear it now.

You should upload your piano piece. I would love to look at the score and hear it again. ;)

Yay! I like this. Great job Jess I really and like work, lots of different stuff going on here.

Thanks everyone! This was a really fun piece to write. I love just messing around and coming up with different chords that fit what the lyrics are trying to say.

As for the recording, it's a little rough, I know. I gave it to a friend of mine to learn and we recorded it on my mac in a practice room the same day. Not the greatest, but it gets the job done. :) Maybe there will be a better recording to come.

As for the piano piece, I really want to record it since the finale version won't do it justice. That's my next project, but first i have to learn it! ;) I'd like to get some feedback on that one as well.

Very nice work. The song itself is nicely motivic, and the melody holds a good amount of interest.

However - the actual text-setting on the page - that's a bit of a mess. Singers read syllabically. This means "with" falls on only one note - and if it's melismatic, then those notes are typically slurred together, and a word extension (horizontal line) follows the actual word on the page for as long as it's held. Same thing with "deep" and "heart" and "peace." For words like "difference," if you're removing the middle 'e' to account for two syllables, an apostrophe should be inserted to mark that you've left out the letter: "diff'rence."

Great job - I hope we hear more from you soon!

Not too shabby :). I like it, ESPECIALLY for somebody who's newer (or at least I thought that's what I read) to writing lyrically. I like the "cool" minor-minor chords-perfect for the text d=(^_^)z. Plus, it gives a nice hodge-podge of classical bendiction with a "newer" feel. Pretty much what Chris above me said is what I'd think as a singer. Still, very well written. Keep on writing!
