April 30, 201015 yr I am currently on holiday in Cyprus and I only have a laptop to listen the music. Therefore, I will be only commenting on the higher range of the spectrum as I don't hear the low end :) Anyway, just kidding, but that is the case! I hear a good level of professionalism on your track. Well you certainly know what you are doing, I can see that. I couldn't underestand if this is a soundtrack? It certainly sounds like one but I don't know :dunno: I really loved the piano and distrortion guitar section, a lot of things going on there, a lot of energy. The variety of instruments you used makes it very colorful and interesting to listen. That's something I always enjoy in a piece of music. It is varied but instruments are perhaps too common? Maybe an unusual instrument could have brough something new. I liked it but I am a man of originalities and sometimes I demand a lot from a piece of music. So don't get me wrong, It is a beautifully orchestrated and professionally produced track.
April 30, 201015 yr Very beautiful ambient, in minor tonality, my kind of stuff, I think the guitar is too distorted or maybe needs a compressor, I'm not sure I admit is very difficult to get a perfect distor along with the other instruments. The percussions are really good, Djembes or similar. At 3:00 that beautiful plucked string sound really nice, is it mandolin ? I'm not sure about the last huming sustaining the final C .... I don't want to be too meticulous to the point of annoying but the initial C (and I think all the other notes) on that sort of Harp is detuned, about +18Cents, related to the strings, it is notorious in the first notes, then it gets hidden. but anyway, this was very pleasent to listen.
April 30, 201015 yr While the distortion guitar added a nice rich touch to the strings, the distortion was a bit too harsh. The piano on the other hand was a perfect addition, maybe it could change it up a bit to add more interest to the listeners.
April 30, 201015 yr Author I appreciate all of the feedback. To answer a few questions, yes, this is a soundtrack. In fact, you can view the show that it comes from for free online: http://webserials.com/blackdawn/ Originally, this track came from the final episode, but underwent significant revision before appearing in the final cut. Unfortunately, as it is already out (and, as I mentioned, picked up for some limited distribution on television), I can't incorporate the excellent suggestions for this piece into the (already shipped) product, but I am certainly going to keep them in mind for future soundtracks. Thank you for your comments, I value them greatly!
