New Joe Clark

This is an arrangement of Old Joe Clark - a fiddle tune that appeared in the early 1800s in America - for 5 fiddles. I wasn't sure what genre to classify it as, but its form is theme and variations. Hello and welcome to the forum! I hope that you enjoy it here! I love this folk song and think that it is a great one to mess around with. Why is not all of the music on the score? I like the idea of some variations on the tune, but I think that your rendition could have a lot more variation. I think that this still sounds like "Old Joe Clark." I think that you need to step out of the box more and really make this a little bit different in some way.

Yes, I guess I wasn't that specific about it; it is an arrangement, not an original composition, but I'm glad you like it. I will play around with more variations in a couple weeks when I have some time. I made it for my beginning fiddle class, so it couldn't be that complicated for our performance.

I think what you made here is great. Even though it's not original. But, this piece shows me that you may be quite a talented arranger and maybe a good composer. Keep up the good work!!

Pleasant and all, but your violin writing is beyond doubtful... Mss. 6 , 11 , 16 , have unplayable violin chords (vln IV)...

Thanks everyone for the comments! It's true Violin IV has some unplayable chords. I should just split it into multiple parts because the way our fiddle class did it is we split the Violin IV part across 2 fiddles. I do appreciate the comments, and I'll be posting a classical-style piece in Sonata form sometime in the next two months as I finish it.
