May 31, 201015 yr The panning in the vocals is interesting but I'm not sure about it, the 8vas are a good touch. The rest seems ok.
May 31, 201015 yr I like this instrumentally. Not saying the vocals are bad, but I think they are too forward in the mix and too agressive. Also I think that they don't really have much melodic structure, they are basically singing the root or the fifth and it's not really interesting. The song itself is very moody and atmospheric which I like, I think that the shakers and the occasional strings really set the mood. Is this some kind of trippy goth project? Reminds me some of early Nightwish and such bands.
May 31, 201015 yr Author This is from my former band, the Empty Mirror, which could be fairly described as a "trippy goth project." Our material was generally much heavier than this song (note: I played everything here). I challenged myself to keep my vocal melodies looser and less intrusive than they usually are. It's fair to call them "not really interesting." While doing the takes, I imagined I was a fetus. There are no strings here, but if you heard some: mission accomplished.
