Vendeta voyage

Featured Replies

this is a piece of music that i had to make for school. it had to follow a story board which was something along the lines of : spaceship flying through space, crew nice and calm in the cockpit, alarm goes off, someoen goes to check then you here a load noise and a short battle scene, lights go out, lights slowly get restored and the crew are in the cock pit waiting anxiously, the thing causing the battle can be heard in the distance then it gets closer and then it reaches the cockpit and kills everyone :P hope you enjoy!

Hey Daniel! Welcome to YC!

Sounds like a cool school. Is it university or high school?

Can you turn up the beginning? It's too soft. The whole track could probably be turned up a bit more.

Some cool orchestration choices at 1:30. You might want to check the file again. It clips at 1:46.

Did the mysterious thing kill everyone at 1:46 or later? On my second listen, I'm thinking that it killed everyone maybe around 2:45. Hard to say. It might be easier to tell if I saw the storyboard.

Neat piece, Daniel! My only concerns are the volume, the clipping at 1:46 and the uncertainty of where some of the plot events happens.

Peace on Earth,

-John

OMG...I did this assignment a few weeks ago xD , it was Y9 Music-Tech!!

I'm presuming that you only have MIDI at your disposal, so the digitalness feeling is hard to fix.

First of all about the piece structure, I'd have liked to see the beginning a little more peaceful and not so much as building the tension, since the alarm is meant to be out of the blue. I agree with JOhn too, it is extremely tricky to work out the changes of plot, it seems too seamless if it's meant to be like a orchestral poem.

The piece itself is actually good in orchestration. HOwever, the main problem is the lack of variety within the piece. You really need to exagerrate and define the changes of plot, and film music isn't like game music - one follows a strict timeplan and the other is more ambient.

Apart from the above crits and John's comments, it's a pretty neat piece though...are you going to do AS/A2 Music??
