First of all, I would like to sincerely apologize for the fact that this piece went over 24 hours without a review, which is the goal of the Reviewer Staff.

As far as the piece goes, it's a nice arrangement! I struggle with percussion myself, so I'm definitely not the person to ask about that.

I would recommend that you post your score as a PDF file, instead of a Finale Notation File, as many users here use Sibelius. You can do that easily by downloading a program called CutePDF writer. There's a thread about that in the Finale/Sibelius Help Desk, I do believe, or just Google CutePDF.

In your score, around Rehearsal Mark G, it is unnecessary to mark each measure the violin and viola trade off in as fff. It would be perfectly acceptable to just write the dynamic mark at the first point you want each section to play fff, and the performers will automatically assume that they are to continue playing at that dynamic level until proven otherwise.

I can see that you adhered to the material that is present in the folk song, but you never presented more than one of the themes at once, and the song is meant to be performed as a round, or something like one, if I'm not mistaken. This leaves you with a lack of melodic material; here you have a nice melody, with some slight harmony and bass, but none of the counterpoint that makes the song a favorite.

You mention a need for more originality? Even though this is only an arrangement, that doesn't mean you need to need to stick strictly to the original material. You should feel free to add some more of your own originality. Change the rhythms around, do whatever.

Hope this was helpful, and I look forward to seeing what else you make of this piece.

Again, I apologize in behalf of the Reviewing Team for the fact that this composition was left so long without any replies.
