August 6, 201015 yr Hearing a computer suck all of the soul out of a composition I have poured myself into is always a cringe-inducing experience for me, but with this nocturne the "Human Playback" version was just so unbearable that I decided to record it myself. The recording quality isn't great (the triplet part is especially weak) but I was eager to post this because I think it's pretty. I unearthed a rough draft of the first section of it when I was cleaning my room and actually liked it, which is unusual when I discover sketches I wrote and forgot. It is not mind-blowingly original, but I still find it charming. However if you don't, PLEASE tell me. I promise criticism won't offend me even though I like it. Nocturne
August 6, 201015 yr I loved it! except for the m33-56 part, which i didn't feel ...Don't quite know what it was supposed to add. M76-83 were exceptionally beautiful imo (although pretty chopin-esque ) I always love melody, bass and countermelody (when done correctly ofcourse). Too bad your piano doesn't sound that good, I would have loved to hear an even more 'decent' recording of this (that is, the sound - not the playing)
August 8, 201015 yr I listened to this piece a couple of times and I must admit; every time I like it more... Very beautiful piece, kind of Chopin-style, beautiful melody and I also like the harmonies. Keep it up!!!
August 8, 201015 yr This is an amazingly good nocturne. I've got nothing negative to say for this piece, I love the key change and the return to the main theme. Also, the variants you add to the theme along the way are just enough imo. Bravo. :)
August 8, 201015 yr This is really lovely and Romantic. Just one thing I didn't like-- there feels like there should be another measure before measure 8; perhaps another downward phrase in triplets before you return to the main theme. I love your tasteful use of grace notes. They're very Chopinesque. The C-Sharp Minor section sounds a bit like Debussy for the beginning part, then more like Liszt as the end draws near. You have almost total rhythmic freedom with your theme as you vary it. I'm really liking that. 76-83 is really a gem. What notational software do you use? Notepad? I use it right now and it won't let me change clefs >_<
