Fugue in G (study)

Featured Replies

I felt like writing a traditional fugue last week, so I did. I haven't written many fugues, so critiques/suggestions would be helpful in my development of this [somewhat useless, yet interesting, and fun] ability. Thanks for your time.

Fugue in G (study)

Very good free counterpoint. What is not convincing me was the theme or subject, it seemed to me very long., But the rest is fine.

Congratulations. :)

Not a bad start. What I would recommend, as far as counterpoint, is to use your fugue subject in developing your contrapuntal textures. One theme really can transform to a large number of other melodies. This study, however, seems more of a fugato in length. Next you should try writing a much larger fugue.
