Converting Audio File

Featured Replies

I'd like to listen to this song I've downloaded from a site on my stereo but when I was trying to burn it on to the CD it won't work, need to be MP3 or .WAV file so I was wondering if any of you can help? either convert it or let me know which software I can use.

Here's the file:

Scarlatti K141

Merci bien

Darn, I don't have any software that will convert a MPGA file. I wish I could help you.

What an amazing Scarlatti sonata, though! That does NOT sound like it was written in the 1730s! Right at the beginning, and in many other spots, it sounds like 20th Century music. That man was infinitely creative in a virtual vacuum at the Spanish Court. So was Boccherini, come to think of it. Being so far from the mainstream of musical culture forced (or freed) a lot of these musicians who worked in Spain to become real innovators.

Try Audacity (Windows and Mac versions available as well as the source code and Unix binaries).

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Just try opening it in there and exporting it as a wave file. It's quite easy to use...

@J.Lee: Oh my - I don't think it would sound like that back in 1700 but that's the only version I have. I don't know any other. Checked out Horowitz Scarlatti collection 141 isn't there. Nonetheless, it's beautiful. :(

@David - thanks for the link, I'll try and work it out myself from there.

Talking convetions, any of you know if you can convert files to midi? it would be nice scince you can convert midi's into score- but a lot of stuff don't exist in midi- yet

The only effective way to convert audio files into MIDI is to listen and transcribe. Programs like Widisoft can create a MIDI interpretation of an audio file, but they only really work well for solo instruments.
