classic ragtime

Featured Replies

Hi,

this little piece is a completely diffrent work as i would do normaly. So i cant sense if it is good (maby interesting) or not. Its more an experimenting for me with some influences. It has some ragtime influence for example, so i call it a classic ragtime. What you think about it? Is it too strange? I think it has not a strong theme but something it has?!

Here it is

Thanks for coment

Esim

This is definitely not ragtime. No syncopation, no (discernable) form. This sounds like Calypso music, or something out of a cheeky musical.

Some of your harmonies are interesting, and the movement of the piece is constant, which is ok. But overall the piece doesn't do much for me. It's not really creative, all that much. I'd suggest a change in the piece, towards the middle. Go for long held chords all of a sudden, using either the same harmonic and melodic material or some new sounds. Don't keep doing the same things over and over!

But please, in keeping respect with all ragtime composers(myself included), please change the title! :P
