PASSION-solo piano

I present a new piece for solo piano, its about 4 minutes long, not easy to play. I hope you like it.

I really enjoyed your development of this piece, especially in the way you varied your melody.The only thing I would suggest is to clean up your score a little bit (example: would it be possible to indicate "ped. simile" instead of all of your pedal marks?). Lovely job!!

I loved it!

the first 4 measures reminded me very much of mozarts theme and variations from his piano sonata no 11 in A major kv331. M33-36 were little touches of Bach (beginning of the fugue from his toccata and fugue in D minor, BWV 565) and then transformed into something that reminded me of something from one of Beethoven's piano sonatas (I believe the appassionata sonata). Obviously there were more parts which reminded me of some other (classical) pieces, but I can't place them all.

This is a very nice piece. It didn't seem to me that you were using virtuosity as a goal, but more as a means for this piece, which is a good thing :).

I felt the beginning was at times a bit... shallow, especially m18-23 which is due to the doubled melody I believe. It did not quite work for me there.

Cool stuff.

And I really like your execution of the fast (32nd note) section! Lotsa good, memorable stuff.

Comments:

Clean up the score. Watch directions of your stems. As Elizabeth mentioned, use the "sim." marking. Watch for whether or not you are in 3/4 or 6/8. Toward the end there was a lot of stuff that was barred in 3/4, but the material most definitely in 6/8. It's a real pain to read.

Mix up your accompaniments more. Even though the idea and intent of your material is solid enough, the slow sections have pretty drab accompaniment. And the root-position chord progressions don't help. It surprised me that you did that, because you wrote the fast section so well. :)

I love Mozart and Beethoven and many works of Bach, so some influence is obvious and its good to hear if I have some touch of this great masters :rolleyes:

There are some virtuosic places because of the passionate passages, I gave up playing my pieces by myself a time ago, so I feel free to write as I feel without having the ability to play it :rolleyes:

Of course the time signature returns mainly to 6/8 and not 3/4 :facepalm:

The easy parts should contrast to the difficult ones, so the intention.
