October 10, 201016 yr This is work I've written back in `97. Nothing out of ordinary. A piano quintet work presenting a kind of modern variation to the minuet form. Minuet
October 10, 201016 yr Overall, I like this. I don't quite see the minuet style in this - but the minuet form is there I think. You have a nice sound, I think. At times, in this piece, I felt a little more repetition than I liked. Perhaps add a little contrasting section might help. Nice work! Thanks for sharing!!
October 16, 201016 yr I think calling this a minuet is being very free with the terms "variation" and "minuet". The only thing minuet-ish about this is the ABA form. You may as well just call it a Romantic quintet in ABA form, because it is otherwise in no way a minuet which is a dance form. That's like calling an AB form work a variation on the Theme and Variation form. It's technically true, but practically speaking it's wrong. That said, very romantic (another point against it being a minuet :P) and expressive. The chord progression is pretty simple, but not unlikeable at all. Nice work! Sounds very natural. Thanks.
