Anyone use Garritan?

Currently I am using the sound library that came with sibelius 6 as well as Virtual drumline 2.5 (this is a library of about 2500 percussion sounds and being that im a percussionist I am picky with my percussion parts/sounds)

However, I am looking to upgrade and was wondering if the Garritan sound library would be a good upgrade from the stock sibelius 6 library?

I can emphatically say 'YES' since the sibelius sounds are very limited. For $100, it is not a bad deal and the new aria engine is much better than the kontakt engine in my opinion. Also, it isn't a terrible sound set to start composing for orchestra either.

However, the sound will never be as good as some of the more expensive libraries since I think Garritan compresses the audio thus killing some of the finer nuances of the instruments. Again, for $100, it is pretty damn good (I have it and love it. Listen to my compositions to get a feel of how the library sounds).

The steinway piano included in GPO4 isn't too shabby either! I would highly recommend getting it and playing with it. You won't be disappointed, especially if you are learning how to compose!
