Bass Clarinet - is this playable?

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been asked to write a solo bass clarinet piece for my course, and I have just finished it (minus dynamics) and just wanted to make sure it was playable before I submit it. I've attached a pdf of the score. Thanks!

Yes it is playable, the last triplets in bar 32 are not very comfortable but 65BMP is not very fast, I say it is all playable, (as long as in bars 13-21 you don't turn the low B natural into flat)

You don't know any bass clarinetists?

Definitely playable. You don't have to worry about much with wind players, outside of ranges, trills, and extended techniques.

Nope, all of my musical friends seem to be string players!

Thanks everyone! Glad its all goood!

Wow. So have you tried any string musical instrument yet?

There is nothing difficult here. The triplets are in quite slow tempo and there is no really high pitch music either.
