Violin Sonata

Well, I don't see anything technically wrong with the piece, but I did find it to be quite bland, in all honesty. I think you used block chords excessively, and that renders your string parts uninteresting. Your harmonies are also overly simplistic; variety would be appropriate here - especially for the length of the work. Even without the common modulation to the dominant (degree V of the original key), you could use much more chords belonging to A minor\C major - there are seven scale steps and each one supports on or more triads. Using inversions ("slash" chords) also helps to avoid monotony.

About the rhythmic motion, I would try adding simple counter-melodies to some of the other string parts, alternating between different instruments. Having more active accompaniment is also something that keeps interest going: instead of simple block chords, you could experiment with different rhythmic cells - instead of using the simple texture in m.17 (allegro), for example, you could employ a 16th-8th-16th rhythm in the violins 1 and 2. Exploiting a wider range is also something that you could do - the various string instruments have different timbres across each of their registers (about three octaves each for each member of the string family is very safe).

I think that you have a good start, but you could do so much more to make it interesting and engaging.

Why is simplicity wrong? I just wanted to create a pretty simple composition.

The main attraction is the main violin so I, as the composer, wanted the other instruments to be as simple as possible but with a decent sound without competing with the main instrument.

I would like to say that one of my philosophies are that music is to be heard by everyone. I do not compose just for academics or musicians.

mmm.... this is a nice and easy listening, but i agree "in toto" whit paranoid.

seems to me a well done exercise more than a composition.

there is a big difference between "simple" and "simplistic".

but dont worry, its not bad, u only have to add a little more of interest to your music.

ps in rhis style, are u sure about B3 vs A3 in the bar 22 of Allegro ?
