Canona alla Ottava 2

Did you by chance use the method of writing one line, then filling in the same material in the second voice the measure after, then filling in the blanks? I ask this because the rhythmic motion is often in only one voice - the canon is structured with one measure active, and the other with very long note values - and that constant transfer of rhythmic motion every measure gets uninteresting after a few measures. In any case, that was what I thought, maybe that effect was intentional? I would suggest trying to write a melodic line that flows more freely.

I'm guessing (with 0-100% probability) that this was composed as an assignment for a class. In that case, I'd give it an A. I liked the modulation to the dominant key of B, and the return to E several bars later. Solid voice-leading and sense of range. Bach would smile if he heard this piece!
