The Popcorn Party

Here is a simple violin solo with piano accompaniment. I wrote it for my elementary-level violin students. The pedagogical foci are playing in G major with both R.H. and L.H. pizzicato. I thought it would be fun for my first composition post. I'm mostly interested in hearing how you think the piano accompaniment fits the solo.

Hey this is very nice! This would be perfect for some sort of animation show for young kids. The piano accompaniment is simple but very effective. The only thing I personally would have done differently is the second D in measures 2 and 10 in left hand piano; I think I might have made that into a B or G (probably B). Anyway, lovely piece. I hope your students liked it?

Yeah. I tossed that "D" around a bit. I tried both B and G, but wasn't quite happy with it because the violin hits the low G in the same range. I want the violin's G to really stand out, and not fight with the piano for the limelight. Maybe I need to hear a live performance because sometimes it's difficult to tell just listening to a midi version.

Did you try replacing the D with low G in 2 and 10? Is pizz. used in the last measure just as a reminder?

Maybe I didn't try the low G (it was late at night when I was finishing it). It does sound better. The second "pizz" was just an oversight. Thanks.
