February 28, 201115 yr A brass, flute, and percussion piece in Aeolian. Written for the February competition February
March 6, 201115 yr I like the Hoketus idea -- where each part is like a gear. I thought for a while you weren't really working with the time signatures, but I see and hear that you're also playing with accents. I think you do a great job of running through the instruments, but it's definitely a sectional piece instead of something where everyone's got something cool to do during most of the piece. The ending didn't do much for me, it was almost like you ended it because you didn't want to work any more on it.
March 7, 201115 yr I really like it. There are a few things that are in most cases impossible to play. For example, piccolos do not have a low C key on them. Some of the sixteenth note passages would be very difficult to most players, even professionals. The flute in measure 5 and 6 would be impossible to play by anyone but James Galway. Also, the trumpet parts are considerably high throughout most of the piece. It would definitely take some extreme chops. I wish you had notated the drum parts a little bit better as I hate only being able to look at 2 measures at a time since the 64th note rhythms considerably spread out the score.
