Two Sides of a Coin

Featured Replies

This is one of my first Orchestral pieces, I'd love to hear peoples opinions on the orchestration and how it could be impoved generally. I think the ending feels a bit rushed. Anyway, enjoy :)

Well, Instrument names are needed, I think you software can add those.

Your orchestration is no incorrect, just simple, don't be afraid that your orchestra will loose its power if you don't double almost everything, try to create more dialogs between instruments, like in page14, instruments like bassoons and cellos are not exclusively for bassline.

The 2nd part sounded me much better.

Sometimes one instruments staff appears with smaller size, does that mean something ?

Keep it on

Thanks I only just noticed sibelius didn't put instrument names on.. strange. Well the smaller staff came from when I split the oboe staff for the solo oboe so on the parts the solo oboe comes up as well as the oboe part. I've seen this myself before in parts I have played. So in terms of the orchestration what should I be doing, adding things like broken chords to make it more interesting?
