April 21, 201114 yr This "Largo" was composed a year ago, but just version for two pianos, now I have orchestrated it and there it is ...Instruments:Flute, Oboe, English hornHorn in FSolo HarpStrings Largo
April 27, 201114 yr I quite enjoyed that! I really liked the use of a harp as a solo instrument throughout; I've never heard a piece like that. The only nitpick I have is that it seems the chord changes every bar. Not only that but it just feels synthetic to me. It's probably just me, I've done the same thing and I try to catch myself. It's not a feel I like but I can see the appeal. Great piece! I'd like to see a score. Thanks for sharing!
April 27, 201114 yr hello, As Yackemflaber already said... a score would make it much nicer to listen to Kind regards W.S.
April 27, 201114 yr That's kind of an odd statement: "A score would make it nicer to listen to." I'd think that it wouldn't matter too much what the score looked like, save its use for having the piece actually performed; I don't think the the score would make much of a difference to th sound. For here, though, the score is really only needed to give a fuller critique - not to enhance the quality, or the sound itself, of the piece. Anyway, sounds like movie or stage music. And I agree with Yackemflaber: that the harmony is too changing; it's hard to hold on to. Further, there's not really a clear and concise melody to follow - but that's more about taste. It is a slow, melancholic piece, and therefore might afford a lack of - I dunno, "formal" - melody. It's more a piece that just moves through the motions than builds to anything heroic, extreme, or dramatic. And at points it even sounds like music you'd hear in old Age of Empires-like games. I dunno if that's what you were going for, but that's what I hear here. I imagine it would be much better if it were actually performed.
