April 24, 201115 yr There are three short movements in this six minute suite. The first movement is a combination of fast and slow sections. The second movement is a fast, almost dance-like theme. The third movement is slower, yet again. Short Suite
April 27, 201115 yr The background for the initial English Horn melody is too loud I think, English horn part will have to be doubled by oboes, and when 2 oboes continue is still too load, maybe double the 2 oboes with 2 clarinets. Some parts I would prefer to divide violins II and set Violins I alone in their melody, Often, the contrabasses can play an 8va lower. Set all you woodwinds volumes down, and you'll get a more realistic idea when writing in Finale, you'll notice when a flute will be easily drawn and need support. Good Ideas.
April 28, 201115 yr Author Thank you SYS for your feedback! Yeah, I know they're too loud. I tried it with Garritan but that makes everything too quiet. I think doubling is a good idea but I always think to myself that it isn't. I'm glad someone is contradicting me. If it were to be played live, though, I think I could get the players to be quieter to allow the soloist to be heard. Thanks.
