April 26, 201114 yr I wrote this piece in around two weeks. It depicts the last battle scene between good and evil. It begins mysteriously and then explodes. This is the war theme. Shortly after (and maybe too shortly after) the G Major theme is introduced. This is the theme of the good people, haha. The war theme comes back and then reaches a climax before the war ends and the good people theme is re-introduced but this time with thinner orchestration and in a more melancholy tone. It ends the way it started. Enjoy! Armageddon
April 27, 201114 yr Hello, I listened to your piece, well to be honest I got up to page 9. Based on this I have a few thoughts which I would like to share with you: What struck me is the formation of your orchestra. You use 1 instrument for every woodwind, suddenly change into 4 horns to return to 1 instrument for the other brass (trumpet, trombone, tuba), although the writing for the bb clarinet suggests that there are two insturments to be present. Your four horns... there is no indication apart from p 16 p 20 and some other minor cases when the have to play all four. As it is noted down, it seems that often only two horns play, whereas the others keep quiet. There are very few dynamic indications: do the instruments have to play p, f, mf, .... ? Then thematically: I like the introduction, although it could be elaborated. You have a good piece of material here, but it needs to be expanded. Try to have a look at Mahler e.g. to see what I mean. Thematic material A and B: same remark as you already outlined yourself: the B theme comes too quickly after the A theme. For me I get the impression like: "ok I wrote enough for this section, let us change to something different"/ Orchestration: You need to work on that on as well. It is not bad, but it could sound fuller: try chords in one section of your strings having them played div Your piece will get a boost from it. Cannot say much more about the rest of the piece, as I only had a small glance on it, but wanted to share with you my first remarks. However, I will be more than glad to have a closer look at it in the near future. On a different note: Also try to have a look at the history of Armagedon. The Battle you mention is actually an historical battle which really did take place, Armagedon being the ancient town of Megiddo. The good and evil people is what has been made of it. Have a look into that as well. Nevertheless: good piece: it shows potential. Keep up the good work. Kind regards W.S.
