Double Beam / Stem doo-hickey

Recommended Posts

Well, first of all, shouldn't the top 'voice' be eighth notes?

Secondly: I think there is a plug-in or something that'll create a second set of stems automatically adjusted to be copies of the notes already in place, just with another stem set. ...but I can't recall how to do it.

I do know that you can do it manually with layers and the note-position tool under the "Advanced Tools" menu. The problem with layers is that they may or may not lie on top of each other if layers have the same note. The Note Position tool will move notes manually to where you want them.

Hmmm. Seems as though I'll have to fiddle around with layers. I think the only problem might be to have the secondary beams go over the hidden rests... I'll see what I can do.

Also, the notes outlined are a melody I had previously stated - it is primarily for the purposes of interpretation. Though I am wondering if keeping the melody notes held would be a good idea.

If you want good examples, there are loads in Kapustin's piano scores.
