This was intended to be just a little theme, but somehow it became eight minutes long;

It took a little over a month. I really don

I swear, didn't I already comment on this?

;) Uh, somebody... anybody?

Nice instrumentation! I like the beginning and some of the melodic ideas you're working with. No idea why people didn't comment on this, though once it got two replies - yours and CK's - people probably glossed over it since you're a relatively new member and they figured you'd been covered. I don't think the lack of terribly long melodies is a problem at all - in fact, your good development of the melodies you have shows skill. However, it would be good for this piece to see a faster section somewhere in the middle; there isn't enough variety in feel to make it more interesting.

Some bits of this sound a little medieval, like the soundtrack to some game with a medieval setting. I disagree about the ingenuity of the second half, it's not boring and you actually increase in tempo and change the feel, which really makes it fresh. Nice melodic ideas too, though there is a spot around 6:20 that's a little awkward. I love some of your textural figurations!

Things definitely begin to anticipate an ending around 7:10. I hope this is going to end well! Thirty seconds later and it's still building. Aw! The ending is too abrupt! You might try cutting that last little bit after the "false" ending at 8:01 and keep climbing a little before you have the WHOLE ensemble come in on a forte or even fortissimo major tonic chord across all registers. That would be a very satisfying ending, and may even make you feel better about the second half.

Keep it up! Sorry, I know I don't look in much on what people are writing, I'm trying to get better at that. If you'd like something critiqued, feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can spare the time to take a look, ok?

Nice work!

The awkwardness at 6:20 has actually bothered me for a long time; it is, as far as I can tell, due to the high, off-beat trumpet part; I absentmindedly uploaded the second newest version, not the newest, where I had already replaced the trumpet part.

The end of a song is always difficult for me; I don
