July 11, 200619 yr Hello everyone. I am new to these forums, and I would like to share my latest composition with everyone. I wasn't sure in which forum to post this thread, but I decided on incidental music and soundtracks. The piece is titled "Pride." http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m...937182&q=hi This is my first work that involves an orchestra. I improvised most of the melodies at a piano and then transferred it to a sequencer program. There were times when I struggled with finding and deciding what melody to use. It took about a month to complete. When creating the piece, I wanted to achieve the feel of a dignified march. Any critque/feedback is more than welcome. You can listen to other works at my soudclick page. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pageartist.cfm?bandID=543234 Feel free to leave messages there too. ;)
July 14, 200619 yr I think this fits into the 'Orchestral' forum better. This is a great, solid piece. But I wouldn't call it a march. A fanfare, maybe, but not a march. Your melodies are just too sweeping and romantic to be a march. I really like your sound. The part at 3:47 or so has a nice gaelic feel to it. Sorry I'm kind of unfocused, I really do like it, but not as a march.
July 14, 200619 yr Nice beginning... I like your chord progression and your use of melody. The strings moving up at 00:25 seem a bit overloaded to me and some of the chords don't seem to be chosen well at this particular point. At 00:28 the melody and the chords are nice again. Yeah, I really like your melodies and chords a lot. This seems to be one of your biggest strengths judging from this compositions. The sound quality of the strings isn't too good though. Part of it is sound quality and another part is everything being really static. You should add main volume controllers to bring your compositions to live. 1:20: The composition develops more of a marching feel now. 3:00 it's nice how you vary the different themes. Some of the higehr registers of the strings don't sound too good and a few runs sound a bit randomish to me. Very interesting stuff. I think the sound quality and your use of instruments would improve tremendously with more practice. I think you are very talented. I enjoyed listening to this.
