Traditional Instruments

Featured Replies

Hi YC

This might be the wrong category, if so sorry. I found an amazing youtube site while doing some investigation on traditional asian instruments: http://www.youtube.com/user/AtlasEnsemble1?feature=watch

And I wanted to share it, and ask if some of you have other links, or just information yourselves about a tradtional instrument which is typically foreign to the classical music. I think it's very interesting to hear about instruments with more than 12 notes within an octave, just as an example. So please do share if you happen to know something about a traditional instrument from your country or something.

Hello I am from Greece and the use of microtonal notes is very often (if note a rule) in fretless instruments like crettan or politiki lyre, ud an of course the clarinet ( I also play the clarinet) used with a very soft reed tha gives the ability to play microtonal notes.

two of my favorite clarinet players:

Soukas:
