What? I'm mad at myself for underestimating them - I actually thought highly of Pax's piece (BTW, where IS it?), but I couldn't count on my opinion being shared by the jury, so I didn't bet on it at all for the final results (not even mentioning it!). So I'm glad that they proved me wrong - if someone can't tell from my fav composers, I'm into more modern music - but it's not like I have this cult mindset of thinking higher of myself just because I have a wider (not necessarily better) taste.

ok, I am glad I misunderstood you ;)

Congratulations to the winners! It seems we had an excellent group of submissions this round... I enjoyed listening to everyone's pieces! :D

For a second, I thought you had the wrong link, because I did not understand a word you wrote about, or how it relates to the artwork, then I realized, you did. For some reason, the link sent me to a king chess piece, and under it says "to be" with a tennis ball underneath. I searched, and I found a key with a bunch of gems on top, and when I clicked "full image" on that, it changed the pic.

Wow... I'm sorry the link wasn't working for you. I'm glad you eventually found the right image, though! I originally wanted to go farther with the musical imagery, but I, uh... procrastinated too much. Perhaps I'll revisit the source artwork in another composition.

On a side note (now that the competition is over :musicwhistle: ), I noticed the marimba lines in mm. 65-76 of my composition are marked with staccato articulations and slurs to convey the musical intent of the line. However, since the instrument's natural sound decay would technically render the articulations useless, should I even include them?

Oh, and congrats to the Austen

I go to a research college... All I HEAR are 21st century works. haha.
