Coming Away From Semibreves

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I haven't uploaded much of my work, but from what I have you might have noticed that there is a lot of soundtrack sounding pieces. Basically in these pieces, I try to make chords very rich and use divisi strings to do so with semibreves. I want to start notating my works for an orchestra to play, but I'm a bit weary that this linear approach might become boring for both the players and the listeners.

Is there any way of mixing the chords up while keeping the same rich sound?

Well you could always use other note values or pitches.

Haha, I hadn't realised. Nice to meet you Phil, I'm Phil too :)

You could make some use of tremolos or have some parts oscillate between two pitches.
