April 28, 201312 yr I am unsure if I've got my Italian correct with the opening page of my piece; would it be Grave con delicato e leggiero?
April 28, 201312 yr "Grave" and "Leggiero" at the same time ? first tell me what would you want it to say (in english) and then I tell you how could it be in italian, but I think "grave" + "leggiero" is a contradiction.
April 28, 201312 yr Author It no longer matters as I chose to change the expression, I have replaced it with: "Grave; delicato e lacrimoso" would this be considered correct..?
April 28, 201312 yr Just write it in a language you know. Assuming you know English, write it in English!
April 29, 201312 yr It no longer matters as I chose to change the expression, I have replaced it with: "Grave; delicato e lacrimoso" would this be considered correct..? yes, now there's no contradiction, but that sounds very sad, is it very sad ? "Very slow, delicate and weeping" ? :( if that's what you want then is ok.
April 29, 201312 yr Author yes, now there's no contradiction, but that sounds very sad, is it very sad ? "Very slow, delicate and weeping" ? :( if that's what you want then is ok. Well, yes- when I wrote the poem I wanted to go for something passionate yet almost sorrowful, tearful- as the opening text is 'I reach for her, I reach for her; words but and echo, birds yet to sound' and it feels right to have that specific direction :D
April 30, 201312 yr you can't say "con delicato" because delicato is an adjective, not a noun. that's literally "with delicate". "con delicatezza" is correct.
April 30, 201312 yr pfft never put a simple "quarter = 138" where an "Allegrissimo minacchioso, tempestuoso e selvaggio, con sdegno diabolico e precipitoso" will suffice, that's my philosophy
April 30, 201312 yr Why would you ever indicate quarter = 138? Such a random number. I'd do 135. Or 138.75, but that's because I do my tempos in multiples of 15.
