I just got the original German cast album of "Tanz der Vampire." It's so deliberately campy... The song the Transylvanian villagers sing about garlic - a song called "Knoblauch" - is just amazing.

But on the serious end of things, it can be quite frightening too, musically. But the finale dispels any illusion that the musical is supposed to be scary.

It's based on a Roman Polanski film called "The Fearless Vampire Hunters." Polanski also directed the original stage production in Germany.
