Hello, I'm new here.

I had a question regarding balance between the strings and a solo clarinet.

Right now I have a full string section playing at p-mp. If I were to give the melody to Bb clarinet in their lowest octave, would I need to double it in the second clarinet part or double it on another instrument, or would a single clarinet player be capable of providing the necessary volume in that range? Any input on the matter would be appreciated
