8-Bit-Evolution Competition, Sept. - Oct.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! We're going to try to revamp this part of the website!

Along with our normal Fall Composition Competition, we're holding an "Evolution" competition here, where you take the song of this month's competition, in this case, The Palace Theme from "Legend of Zelda II", and re-orchestrate it using instruments found in orchestral or exotic settings. The link to the original song can be found below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a7Sh82Mzdc

Eligibility:
1. Must be a member of the Young Composer's Forum to participate.
2. There are no limits to orchestration, but you are going to want to pick instruments that provide the best rendition of the original music.
3. You must have a SCORE (or some sort of visual notation) and AUDIO FILE submitted (not on this page) to completely enter your work in the competition.
4. Engraving will not be an essential part of the scoring, but scores must still be legible.

Scoring:
1. Were all the chords in the piece copied over correctly into the evolution? /10
2. Was the right time signature used? /10
3. Is the main melody line correct (or mostly correct)? /10
4. Does it sound like this evolution could be used in an updated version of the original game? /10

TOTAL: /40

Deadline: You may *NOW* post your submissions here, by October 15th. Please post the link to the in-site location to listen, as to not have the autoplay feature set off.

There is only ONE other judging spot open. Please signal your judging intent statement in the comments to this post.
