Sleepless

Featured Replies

This is something I wrote while, well, not being able to sleep some weeks ago - I opened my laptop and just started writing whatever on a score. I completed the thing a couple of days later and I'm pretty pleased for the results; I'm no expert at composing (it's just a hobby for me) but I liked some of the things I did even though I feel that a couple of ideas are under-developed and the structure is kinda weird.

Chord progressions get a little strange, especially in your faster sections. Things don't match up between the violin and the piano and it suffers as a result.
I'm assuming there's not just one violin playing here? If that's not the case, then you've done some very awkward violin writing with double and triple stops.
It's very jumpy. Maybe that's part of the piece's theme, but it's not really ideé fixe since it's not done the same way each time. Despite the intent, it sounds like an easy way to get back to where you were.

Not sure what you mean with "easy way to back where you were".

I've fixed some of the stops, deleting some notes entirely.
