Compositions For Piano

Two simple pieces (because i'm lazy)

Give me some comments, and i shall respond.

Both good imo.

I like the Elegy better. There's a really definite mood to the piece, which is good. I think it holds together very well. The only thing I would say is that after it speeds up a little at 0:58, when it slows down again after that, the retardation might be a little too sudden.

The Etude I think sounds a little like video game music, but apart from that, it's good.

I prefer the Elegy though. V good.

Etude - a cool intro. melody is awsome, mood changes are nice and stops sound in the right place. The ending is a little fast, but i guess it's an etude so most endings are like that. I'd still wish you'd change it.... Brilliant work, anyway!

Elegy - really nice in the beginnig, and i like the change from steady left hand to totaly contra-theme. The fast part and the ending work well, so i like'd them. A very good one too, but i like'd etude better.

Sorry for not giving any pianistic advice, but the only thing i know about piano music is how to enjoy it.

Actually, I think both songs have a video game sounding quality to them.

I enjoyed the Etude. I think I like that one better than the Elegy. I liked the melody of the elegy, but I feel that the notes start to sound somewhat random in the section after the first 15 seconds. At least, that was the impression I got. The The only thing I would suggest is varying the left hand some more maybe if you want to expand on the pieces some more.

nice job. makes me think: chivalrous

Etude in C Minor - Very fast. The breaks in the music are rather jarring though and set my teeth on edge. But the fast pace is quite nice. I'd find some way to fill in those jarring breaks. They really hurt this piece I think.

Elegy - This seems to move too quickly for an Elegy. The insistent piano note could be more gentle like Chopin's Raindrop Prelude, but I can chalk that up to the limits of Midi. You seem to use a modal melody for this, and I think that works well. I'd just slow the piece down some, give the pianist more of a chance to mournfully sing.

Your Etude reminds me of something. ^^

oHH, EHH. I don't know what you mean. :excl:

I've heard your etude, Coda, but i didn't have it in mind when i wrote this one. Except for the octave jumping left hand, it's not very simmilar.

Please reply, i don't want people to think that i'm copying here. :D

Since it is an etude, what are you trying to work on?

Also, is elegy fit for an elegy?

By the by nice pieces

I was joking man; you rock.

Excellent work Let, you've grown in musical maturity through leaps and bounds. Mah babehs growing up! xD

Hey, dun worry. I am not about to ditch SSF for this. Or ditch this for Maple Story. I'll just lurk around your threads and be a general nuisance.

Coda: If i find the time, i'll speak to you later in PM. :P

Bitterduck:

''Since it is an etude, what are you trying to work on?''

Speed, ofcourse! I've played this piece as a duet by now, my goal is to learn to play the entire thing by myself!

''Also, is elegy fit for an elegy?''

I think so, but maybe we perceive music in different ways.

Updates on the etude!

Not too happy with this one. It sounds like crappy videogame music.
