Violins and Cellos

Check out my newest work. It's short again... but I think it's more of a complete idea this time. It's in 4/4 and it is predictable if you can hear what I can hear. I wish I knew how to do slides in midi, I'd be sliding those violins all over the place. Any input would be appreciated :P.

No, dont give up so quick! Great things come to those who strugle, try, get unseccesfull, and try another hundred times..

This is somewhat better than your previous work ( I cant remember the name right now) with trumpets.

But it's still a very weak work. I would suggest you to work with it more. Dont allways start a new piece.

In fact, while I compose, I hardly change my main idea. I try to stick to it no matter what, try to make something out of it, much like sculpture. You take your raw idea, and shape it until it looks perfect. If the situation gets terrible, its only then I think wether trash the piece or make major changes like changing the main theme.

First thing first. The bass can do more than hold out half and whole notes. You are trying to write this like a rock song. If you are going to try to right in a "classical" type setting, you'll have to expand what you normally do. I would suggest you take some time to experiment with complex harmonies, complex rythm and learn how to use every instrument to their max ablity. Get the basic down then try again. It will not only help in your string music here but in your rock music.

I suggest that you try writing some rock-style music with string instruments. If you can write rock, then just apply those rules and standards to string music.
