Blue Dot - Film Experiment

Featured Replies

This was a quick project I wanted to accomplish. Took a simple video, add music, and line it up with some voice over over a short time. A lot of the "sounds" were very much influenced and borrowed from recent space films. Please feel free to critique!

Hi all, just updated it because I didn't like how it turned out. I removed half of the audio and edited some sections which I thought got repetitive. Hopefully it sounds a bit better! Thanks for listening.

Just one comment for the audio: the microphone's settings may be slightly off. Usually in documentaries, one doesn't hear too much breathing noises from the narrator. I'm not too familiar with the workings of the microphone but I may as well suggest you check it out. Music was decent enough for the short clip however so the blending was fine.

Thanks Maximus. I didn't record this myself as it's the famous Carl Sagan. I'll look into remove the breathing sounds however thank you!

As for the music, definitely will consider re-working it to make it stand out more.

Yes different people have 'noises' in their speaking..  some make 'clicking' noises, others suck in air too loudly, or more disturbing.. use pitch too often in their words, that becomes distracting in itself.  You can try stripping the breathing out, sometimes, automating the volume to lower, but not completely, seems more natural.. Carl, is so consistent in his sucking in air before he starts a sentence, it become too noticeable and somewhat irritating..  When using previously recorded speech you are at the mercy of the recording, although there is some software, good at cleaning up vocal tracks..

The music works well with the narration..
